Online Resources
Substance abuse: LGBTQ+ people are not inherently prone to substance abuse because of their sexual orientation or gender identity but rather placed at higher risk because of how they are mistreated and stigmatized in society. Alcohol Rehab Guide strives to create a stigma free zone where anyone who wishes to seek treatment can do so without feeling guilty. They have a very informative site, with good resources. For a more general resource on substance abuse, Rehab Spot has a good article on the issue, and offers online counseling.
As we get older, one concern for anyone may be Alzheimer’s disease. LGBTQ+ individuals still face discrimination in health services, and may or may not have family support. Alzheimer’s Association has a page with more information and resources for LGBTQ+ individuals.
