The mission of the SDI (Student Diversity Initiatives) office is to foster diversity and inclusion in the Missouri S&T community by providing a welcoming climate for all students. The department aims to support underrepresented, LGBTQIA community and their allies, first generation, and low income students from all walks of life through programming, retention, and mentoring initiatives. Spectrum is an organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students, staff, and faculty, along with all of our LGBT-supportive allies. We are based on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus, but our meetings and activities are open to the public. All supportive individuals are welcome. Students and faculty can easily change their preferred name on course rosters and Canvas through Joe’SS: Under the self service tab is an option for Names, preferred name can be edited. Doing this will also enable individuals to have their chosen name on their university ID. The quickest way to have the name associated with your email changed is to email IT: ithelp@mst.edu. Canvas also allows users to set pronouns by going to Settings. The current choices are He/Him, She/Her, They/Them or none (default).
